Real Salt Lake
Real Salt Lake, the twelfth member of Major League Soccer, opened its inaugural season on April 1, 2005. The franchise is set to move into its new state-of-the-art home - Rio Tinto Stadium - on October 9, 2008. Led by head coach Jason Kries, RSL has developed a strong fan base and has consistently ranked near the top of the MLS in attendance figures over its first three years of play. In addition, it has developed a relationship world-renowned soccer franchise, Real Madrid. The agreement includes co-owned youth soccer academies, a series of matches between the teams and the ability for RSL to use the internationally recognized training facilities in Madrid, Spain.
